David Hunt

Dave spent most of his young, formative years seeing the world, fueling his imagination with visual experiences.  Born in southern California, his family lived and traveled in the Philippine Islands, China, Japan and the Pacific Rim.  These exciting times were exchanged with different experiences, working as a deckhand on a charter sailboat along the Atlantic coast of the U.S. and the Caribbean.  The rocky coast of Maine to the deserted islands of the Leeward Islands, all formed his visual language.

 While studying design at the University of Cincinnati, Dave had the opportunity to work with Robert Fabe, Phil Foster and Reginald Grooms, the beginning of his painting career.

After working in the field of product design for 26 years, Dave felt the  call to begin painting again, producing light and dark contrast, shadow and texture on canvas.

Dave's work is currently in acrylic media having worked in oils and watercolor in the past.  His style is very illustrative, emulating the works of N.C. Wyeth, Bernie Fuchs and Mark English, often using the brush style and mood of his mentor Robert Fabe.
